Due to the nature of wet areas including bathrooms, ensuites and spa rooms, glazing in shower screens, windows and doors within 2000mm of floor level must Grade A Safety Glass to comply with AS1288-2006 Glass in buildings. Along with doors and side panels, these areas are classified as the highest risk of human impact resulting in injuries by glass. Ordinary annealed mirror is allowed if installed onto a solid backing, ensuring that if broken, no glass will separate from this material. If this is not possible safety backed or laminated mirror must be used to fulfill the conditions of the Australian Standard.
